Michael V. Elman - MD
Michael V. Elman, MD, is a skilled orthopedic specialist who has been in solo private practice since 2008. Dr. Elman sees patients in Braintree, Foxboro, and Dorchester.
Dr. Elman was raised on the North Shore of Boston. After graduating high school with honors from St. John’s Prep, Dr. Elman was admitted to the highly selective seven-year B.A./M.D. program at Boston University. In the College of Arts and Sciences he was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society and graduated summa cum laude. Dr. Elman went on to complete his orthopedic surgery internship and residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He then furthered his training by returning to Boston University to complete a sports medicine fellowship. There Dr. Elman served as a team doctor for various Division I NCAA sports teams, including the esteemed Men’s Ice Hockey team.
Dr. Elman’s hospital affiliations include Norwood Hospital in Norwood, MA, Carney Hospital in Dorchester, MA, and Morton Hospital in Taunton, MA. He is fluent in English and Russian, with a working knowledge of Spanish.
In his spare time Dr. Elman enjoys golf and skiing with his family and is the proud father of two sons and a daughter. He is an avid fan of our local sports teams.
Thomas Gill IV - MD
After graduating Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude in Biology from Harvard College, Dr. Thomas Gill
received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He performed his internship in general
surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital and completed his orthopedic surgery training at the
Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program. Upon his graduation, Dr. Gill was awarded the
Maurice E. Muller Scholarship to study reconstructive surgery in Bern, Switzerland and throughout other
European academic centers. He then completed his fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado.
Dr. Gill is currently Director of the Boston Sports Medicine and Research Institute. Dr. Gill has a strong commitment to education, and in addition to his involvement as course director or faculty member with many CME courses, he is an active member of the New England Baptist Sports Medicine Fellowship Program.
Dr. Gill has served as Medical Director for the Boston Red Sox, Head Team Physician for the New England Patriots, and Team Physician for the Boston Bruins. He is a fellow of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons; a member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine; has been a member of the Team Physician Societies of the Major League Baseball, the National Football League, and the National Hockey League; and was elected to the Herodicus Society and the American Orthopedic Association.
Dr. Gill’s primary clinical and research interests include knee and shoulder injuries. He has a particular interest in biomechanics of the knee and shoulder, as well as tissue engineering techniques for joint preservation and cartilage repair in the knee. Dr. Gill has authored numerous articles and chapters on basic science and clinical issues involving the knee and shoulder and has previously written books on Complications of Shoulder Surgery and Techniques of Knee Arthroscopy.
John Hester - DPM
Dr. John Hester is a podiatrist at New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH). In addition to his work at NEBH, Dr. Hester holds an academic appointment as Clinical Instructor at Cambridge Health Alliance and St. Elizabeth’s Podiatric Surgical residency programs. He is a diplomat to the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and serves as a podiatry consultant to the Boston Celtics.
Dr. Hester earned his medical degree from the Rosalind Franklin College of Medicine and Science in Chicago. He completed his internship at Baylor University Medical Center followed by a residency at Harris County Podiatric Surgical Program. Prior to becoming a podiatrist, Dr. Hester was a practicing physical therapist.
Dr. Hester specializes in treating various foot injuries and pathologies and is certified in extracorporeal shock wave treatment for chronic heel pain.
Kurt Hofmann - MD
Dr. Hofmann is a Board-Certified orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon, specializing in minimally invasive surgery. He completed his medical school and residency training at Tufts University School of Medicine, and a foot and ankle fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital.
Dr. Hofmann’s clinical interests lie in foot and ankle surgery, including ankle arthroscopy, minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery, total ankle replacement and lower extremity trauma. He is an active member of multiple academic societies, including the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).
Mark Messineo - MD
Dr. Messineo has been in private practice providing high quality orthopaedic care to the community since 1996. He received his undergraduate degree with magna cum laude from Princeton University. He earned his medical degree from Harvard University Medical School in 1991. Prior to his residency, he participated in a medical mission providing care to underserved regions of Central America. Dr. Messineo completed the Tufts Medical Center Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program in 1996. During that time, he recieved specialized training in hip and knee joint replacement at the New England Baptist Hospital.
Dr. Messineo is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has served as Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Norwood Hospital. He is a member of Massachusetts Orthopedic Association and Massachusetts Medical Society.
Dr. Messineo’s clinical interests include arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee, sports medicine, and joint replacement surgery. Dr. Messineo is trained and certified in the technological advancement of robotic assisted Makoplasty partial knee replacement and total hip replacement. He has given orthopedic lectures in the medical community and continues to provide presentations regarding joint replacements to the public.
Dr. Messineo’s other interests include skiing, jogging, and playing golf. He is also an avid reader. Dr. Messineo lives in the suburbs southwest of Boston with his wife and three children.
Lampros Minos - PA-C
Lampros Minos, PA Graduated Boston University in 1986 with an undergraduate degree in Health Sciences and Exercise Physiology. After several years as an athletic trainer, he attended te Charles Drew School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program in Los Angeles. For over 20 years, he has been diagnosing and treating orthopedic injuries. He has assisted in thousands of surgical procedures and continues to be a preceptor for many PA programs locally and nationally.
Robert L. Patz - MD
Robert L. Patz, M.D. is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and earned a Subspecialty Certificate in Sports Medicine from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. For over 20 years, he has been practicing orthopaedic surgery with a subspecialty interest in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery in the greater Boston area.
Dr. Patz received his undergraduate degree from Tufts University and his medical degree from Tufts Medical School in 1991. He was subsequently accepted to and completed the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program at Boston University Medical Center in 1996. He completed an accredited one-year Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Fellowship at Orthopaedic Research of Virginia (ORV) in Richmond, Virginia.
Dr. Patz is the former president of the Massachusetts Orthopaedic Association, and has served on the board of directors for many years. Dr. Patz is a clinical instructor in the New England Baptist Sports Medicine fellowship program. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine. These academic and clinical affiliations help Dr. Patz provide his patients the most up-to-date, highest quality orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine care.
Dr. Patz’s primary clinical interests include all arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee and sports medicine. He has been involved in the care of athletes from the high school to the professional level. He has published articles in peer review journals and made presentations at meetings throughout the country.
Dr. Patz is affiliated with a number of local hospitals, including the New England Baptist Hospital, rated as one of the top orthopaedic hospitals in the country. Brian Petrone, PA-C
Brian Petrone Graduated from Northeastern University with an undergraduate degree in health science and psychology. After working as a firefighter for several years and a paramedic for Boston MedFlight he attended Springfield College physician assistant program. Brian is the former physician assistant for the New England Patriots and currently works at Boston Sports Medicine with Dr.Tom Gill. Working as a PA for the past 20 years, his specialty is sports medicine with specific focus on complex ligament and ACL injuries.
Jason Rand - PA-C
Jason Rand is the Physician Assistant to Dr. Brian McKeon, diagnosing and treating a variety of orthopaedic injuries. He attended Cornell University where he completed multiple elective orthopaedic rotations and earned his degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Jason also earned a master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University where he worked as a licensed Physical Therapist, rehabbing patients with sports-related injuries. His initial clinical training took place at New England Baptist Hospital in the sports medicine service.
Jason has extensive experience with steroid and viscosupplementation injections, having injected over 12,000 joints, and often lectures around the country on intra-articular injections and techniques. He also has an interest in biological injections, such as platelet-rich plasma, and is a preceptor for several PA programs both locally and nationally. Jason also participates in ongoing clinical trials, including studies sanctioned by the FDA.
Glen Ross - MD
Dr. Glen Ross is Chief, Sports Medicine, Section Chief, Shoulder and Elbow, and director of education for Sports Medicine at New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH). He is also the founder and director of the New England Shoulder and Elbow Center within ProSports Orthopedics.
In addition to his work at NEBH, Dr. Ross holds academic appointments as Assistant Clinical Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine, and at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He has authored numerous articles, with over 35 publications in leading Orthopaedic journals. Additionally, Dr. Ross has lectured extensively, both locally and internationally.
He is a member of several specialty societies, including the Arthroscopy Association of North America, Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. His numerous awards include the Bill Southmayd teaching award, and a Neer award nominee for outstanding shoulder research.
Dr. Ross is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He completed his fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital, after earning his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine. He is a retired Captain in the Naval Medical Corps Reserve, having served for 25 years.
A specialist in shoulder and elbow disorders, Dr. Ross has research, and clinical interests, in upper extremity injuries, and conditions. He has extensive experience in treatment of shoulder arthritis, rotator cuff injuries, shoulder arthroscopy, and instability. His elbow expertise includes disorders of tendons and ligaments, arthritis, and elbow arthroscopy.
Anthony Schena - MD
Dr. Anthony Schena is a board-certified orthopedic physician who specializes in sports medicine and general orthopedics. He is the Head Team Physician for the Boston Celtics and has been appointment to the NHL/NHLPA Second Medical Opinion List. He has published articles and given presentations on topics relating to upper extremity injuries and foot and ankle injuries. Affiliated with Mount Auburn Hospital, New England Baptist Hospital, and Boston Outpatient Surgical Suites.
Joseph Sirois - MD
Dr. Sirois is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon who has been treating patients with a wide range of musculoskeletal disorders for over 20 years in the Norwood area. His areas of expertise includes the non-operative treatment of many other orthopaedic conditions.
Dr. Sirois is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, Tufts University Medical School and the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Orthopedic Surgery residency program. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
